Connect in three steps: **register → create a key → configure the endpoint, key and model in your tool**.

## Prepare your account and key

### Register and sign in

Open [passion8.cc/sign-up](https://passion8.cc/sign-up), register and sign in to the console.

### Check your balance

New accounts need a balance before making requests. Follow the separate [top-up and billing guide](https://docs.passion8.cc/en/docs/billing).

### Create an API key

Open [Console → Tokens](https://passion8.cc/console/token) and create an API key.

A key grants access to your balance. Keep it out of public repositories, screenshots and chat history. Use separate keys for tools and projects so you can revoke them independently.

## Choose your tool

With your key ready, follow the relevant guide:

- [Claude Code in VS Code](https://docs.passion8.cc/en/docs/claude-code/vscode): Configure the official extension with your Passion8 endpoint, key and model.
- [Codex in VS Code](https://docs.passion8.cc/en/docs/codex/ide): Connect the official extension with the local API-key configuration.
- [Cline multi-model setup](https://docs.passion8.cc/en/docs/cline): Use Claude, GPT, Grok or Gemini in one VS Code extension.
- [Install Claude Code](https://docs.passion8.cc/en/docs/claude-code/install): CLI, desktop and official IDE extension.
- [Configure Claude Code](https://docs.passion8.cc/en/docs/claude-code/settings): Manual configuration or CC-Switch.
- [Install Codex](https://docs.passion8.cc/en/docs/codex/install): CLI, desktop and official IDE extension.
- [Configure Codex](https://docs.passion8.cc/en/docs/codex/config): Manual configuration or CC-Switch.
- [Install and configure Gemini](https://docs.passion8.cc/en/docs/gemini): Install Gemini CLI and connect manually or through CC-Switch.
- [Install and configure Grok](https://docs.passion8.cc/en/docs/grok): Official Grok Build or Grok through Codex CLI / App.

## Endpoint reference

| Tool | Base URL | Authentication |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Claude Code CLI / IDE | `https://passion8.cc` | `ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN` environment variable |
| Claude Desktop chat | Not a Passion8 model endpoint | MCP can connect tools, but does not replace the model backend |
| Codex CLI / official IDE extension | `https://passion8.cc/v1` | `OPENAI_API_KEY` in `~/.codex/auth.json` |
| Gemini CLI | `https://passion8.cc` | `GEMINI_API_KEY` in `~/.gemini/.env` |
| Cline: GPT / Gemini / Grok | `https://passion8.cc/v1` | API Key in OpenAI Compatible settings |
| Cline: Claude | `https://passion8.cc` | API Key in Anthropic custom-URL settings |
| Grok Build CLI | `https://passion8.cc/v1` | `api_key` or `env_key` in `~/.grok/config.toml` |

Claude Code and Gemini CLI use a Base URL **without** `/v1`; Codex and Grok use the OpenAI-compatible endpoint **with** `/v1`. This is a common configuration mistake.

## Control costs next

After the first successful request, read [Claude costs and caching](https://docs.passion8.cc/en/docs/claude-code/cost-saving) for when to use `/clear` and `/compact`, and the difference between five-minute and one-hour caching.
